Compare Two Works of Art Activity

Here's a simple cross-curricular activity for young artists in grades 2+. 
Compare two works of art that have a similar subject, style or technique.
1. Write two sentences about how the paintings are similar.
2. Write two sentences about how the paintings are different.
3. Which painting do you like the most? Why?

Create your own "Spot the Differences" activity
​with your original art. 
  1. Choose one of your favorite drawings or paintings that has a lot of detail.
  2. Photograph, scan or copy your art and print two color copies.
  3. Use markers, oil pastel or paint to make 5-6 small differences to one copy. Paste both copies on a larger sheet of paper. (You can also use photo editing software/apps to make the changes.)
  4. Share the images with your family and friends to see if they can find all of the differences.

Make A Still Life

Gather 3-5 objects from around the house and arrange them together. Select two techniques from the list below and create 2 different renderings of the same still life. While we used fruit in the still life example below, feel free to use toys, flowers, art supplies, etc.
